Includes directories of Ohio coal mines and reports from law enforcement officials. Directories list mine, owner, and location. Directories may also include number of employees, production data, whether mine was unionized, and whether it had been seized by the federal government. Some records document the Ohio National Guard's attempts to put down strikes.

When Mexican and Civil War soldiers mustered out of service, many regiments turned their flags over to the state of Ohio. The General Assembly authorized the purchase of glass cases to display battle flags in the Statehouse. The battle flag collection increased as flags from the Spanish-American War, World War I and World War II were deposited. By the 1960s the flags were in poor condition.
